In the enigmatic world of Product Management, as a leader we can not deny the fact that our role is really ambiguous one. When you know the famous quotes from Customer is the King to Customer isn’t always right Or Stick to roadmap to Don’t get too attached to the roadmap. It is very common to get into what to choose? which way is best? which map is perfect? or which scripts to rely on? to start or support your team with valuable inputs. Yes I know you have huge empathy with your customers.

Yes it is the key behind every great products built on earth. So what exactly this Brahmashtra is ? Let’s deep dive more into as below:

Continuous Product Discovery is a Product Discovery methodology extended and applied through the product’s lifetime. It happens continuously alongside development.

It’s very important to each stakeholder in product team to including product managers, designers and software engineers, those who are building the product, to have regular interaction with customers.

Here is stepwise guide from my understanding of product space and thinking methodologies to implement this technique effectively throughout the product time span :

From the Jobs To Be Done Defining stage it starts playing it’s unique role. In cyclic manner you should have your questions right rather than looking for right answers. Talk to your customers weekly/monthly/quarterly in whatever way it works for both.

While Ideating remember each stakeholder including customer can give the idea. So be open minded. Just because your coffee chat group have great product experts doesn’t means they only have the idea. Look for ideas outside of your bubble. Have best solution at the end respecting opinions of all but deciding for customer.

Always Be Validating ! Always ask question How do I know if I’m building the right thing? You must have answers of below questions to stay undoubtful :

  1. Is it Valuable ?
  2. Is it Usable ?
  3. Is it feasible ?
  4. Is it viable ?

Remember for next very important stage Execution do Communicate! Communicate! and Communicate! Continuous delivery is key to product success. Build trust at every juncture (no matter what their role is). Everyone should be informed what they are building. As a Product Manger you can never respond like What I’ve to do with if sales can’t sell it? No, never you can not get away from the responsibility of Product’s success or failure.

What next !! Nobody wants a friend who just call in need :) It doesn’t end here, it goes more strongly in Product Iteration stages as well. Make sure you’re regularly eying back on what you’ve shipped and measuring results, Take surveys, have sessions making it crucial to continuously monitor, adjust, and ultimately improve the products you build.
